6 Steps to Grounding Your Soul
Have you ever wondered what “grounding” is? No, I don’t mean punishing your children, although grounding may help them behave better!
Grounding (also known as Earthing) is the contact made between the human body and the Earth's surface electrons. Grounding can be accomplished by walking, sitting, or standing barefoot outside or visualizing the body making contact with the Earth through meditation. There are also grounding machines that attempt to transfer the energy from the Earth to humans through conductive systems, but I prefer the real deal!
What’s the point?
The truth is, many of you may not realize the basis of your stress or anxiety may be due to a lack of connection with your inner self, your soul. It can also be due to a vibrational disconnect with the natural Earth that builds up over time in a highly stimulated and metropolitan environment. The energy in your body changes and misaligns with the energy around you, creating internal anxiety.
The technique/ritual of grounding has been around for centuries and literally matches the energy in our bodies to that of nature, which our bodies crave!
The steps
I practice grounding every morning when I wake up before getting out of bed. Grounding can take on many forms, but here are the thoughts/steps I go through:
Picture a sort of funnel extending up to the sky from the top of your head
Set your intention to pull in tons of light, love, peace, and anything else you need today
Visualize light entering the funnel and filling up your body through deep breathing
Repeat this process multiple times until you have receive all of the light you need to face today
Follow the light out of your feet and into the Earth like beautiful tree roots expanding down to the center of the planet
Once your energy hits the center of the Earth, follow the light back up into your body with the calmness and energy of nature
End with 30-60 seconds of full, deep breaths and gratitude for the energy you just tapped into
By grounding each morning, your anxiety will lessen and you will feel more connected with yourself. As a plus, you will be prepared to take on the day with a more positive and compassionate attitude.
